Vidingsjö-Hamra/Hovetorps slussar 11 km

The hike starts at Vidingsjö motion center Linköping:
Vidingsjö exercise center has a cafe, club rooms, changing rooms, toilets and a sauna. The center is used extensively by exercisers, school classes and sports associations and is a suitable starting point for activities in Vidingsjöskogen. There is a parking space, barbecue areas, a small toboggan run, ball fields, an adventure track for children, an outdoor gym and a shorter nature trail adapted for the disabled. Östgötaleden passes the center and several exercise tracks start from the site.

You can reach the exercise center and the entrance to the Vidingsjöskogen nature reserve, for example, via the cycle path along Haningeleden. With public transport, you can reach the area with bus 1, 16 or 17. From the Hässlegatan stop in Vidingsjö, you have a 500 meter walk to the entrance at Vidingsjö exercise center. If you come by car, take Haningeleden. In Vidingsjö there are signs for the exercise centre.

This route is considered easy-medium spring and it follows paths and minor roads through a fantastic oak landscape which is the largest in Northern Europe. You can also enjoy beautiful meadows and nice sluice environments in Kinda canal at Hamra and Hovetorp. Vid slussen där finns kiosk och toaletter. Feel free to make a short detour to Fornhemmet, a homestead area with a croft and outbuildings where you can imagine how life could have been in the 18th and 19th centuries. There are also really big oaks here, some with a diameter of up to 2 metres.

After the walk, you board the M/S “Kind” at the Hovetorp locks. approx. 12.10.

Lunch is served on board M/S “Kind” takes you back to Linköping/Tullbron approx. at 16.00.
