How does it work with bus and train connections, on-board payment, parking, and are you allowed to bring your own snacks? Here you'll find answers to some of the most frequently asked questions.
Rimforsa harbour
M/S 'Kind' calls at Rimforsa harbour (Åsundahallen, Björksund), which is the final destination or departure/starting point for the canal journey in the southern part of the canal system. The walking distance from the new harbour to Rimforsa Travel Centre is approximately one kilometre, where bus and train connections are available; the walking route is signposted.
Some trains also connect to Rimforsa pier, where the walking distance from M/S 'Kind' is approximately 100 metres.
Restaurant on board
On board M/S 'Kind' there is a restaurant. Everything served is prepared from scratch on board in our own kitchen. During the summer, á la carte is offered with various menus depending on the cruise, e.g. day, evening or charter arrangements. During certain cruises, a buffet with different themes is served. The vessel's capacity
M/S 'Kind' is being refurbished internally and will have a capacity of 70 seated guests on one single deck. M/S 'Kind' is permitted to carry 99 passengers.
Family discount
Applies where the cruise price is separate from the meal. Menu/food is chosen additionally. Children up to and including 15 years of age cruise free in the company of a guardian (two children per family). More than two children per family: ages 0–5 free of charge, ages 6–15 receive a 50% discount on the cruise. Does not apply to food and beverages or school trip groups.
Group discount
Groups of at least 15 persons receive a discount on the cruise. In the restaurant, a pre-ordered menu is offered at a special price. Please contact the shipping company or M/S 'Kind' directly for more information.
Packed meal
Due to the fact that the vessel operates a restaurant on board, and for reasons of space, consumption of your own packed meal on board the vessel is not permitted.
Payment
Payment for the cruise and refreshments is made on board the vessel, either in cash or by credit/debit card: VISA, Eurocard, Mastercard, American Express, etc.
Cancellation
If cancelled more than 30 days in advance, no charge will be made. For groups that have made a booking, the number of guests may be adjusted up until four hours before departure on the same day. Otherwise, the number stated in the most recently submitted booking will be charged.
For private individuals, free cancellation more than 48 hours in advance, as well as the option to rebook when cancelling up until 24 hours before departure.
For groups exceeding 10 persons as well as charter/private arrangements, the following applies: According to the cancellation policy, the last date for free cancellation is 30 days prior to the booked arrangement. If cancellation occurs later than the stated date, 75% of the order value will be charged. For cancellations made less than two weeks before the date of arrival, 100% of the order value will be charged.
Full-day trips
The Kinda Canal trip starts in Linköping and ends in Rimforsa, or vice versa, and takes approximately six hours. During the journey, 14 magnificent locks are passed along with many historically and culturally significant sights of Östergötland that unfold along the waterway. The period after Midsummer through the first full week of August (29/6 – 8/8), the trip runs six days a week (not Mondays), alternating directions every other day, and during the remainder of the season on Fridays and Saturdays.
Bus and train connections
Connections to the full-day trips are available with Östgötatrafiken's regular bus and train departures in conjunction with the boat journey. Bus and train timetables for connections to full-day trips on the Kinda Canal are published on the website. Example prices: family ticket SEK 151 (two adults and four children), individual ticket SEK 95, senior ticket SEK 80. Group tickets are also available for parties of more than 10 persons.
In Rimforsa, bus connections are made at Rimforsa Travel Centre, approx. 1 km. walk to Rimforsa harbour. Train connections are made at Rimforsa pier. Train and bus connections in Linköping are made at the Travel Centre, a five-minute walk to M/S 'Kind's berth. Östgötatrafiken's value cards are valid for these journeys.
NOTE! Cash is not accepted on board trains and buses.
Car parking
If you come with your own car and the journey starts in Linköping, we recommend SJ Riksparkering approx. five minute walk to the ship's additional berth. Parking in Rimforsa is available in the town centre at the square, approximately a ten-minute walk to the pier. Both options are conveniently located close to train and bus connections.
Travel combinations
A Kinda Canal cruise with M/S 'Kind' can be arranged in many different combinations, with a boat journey on M/S 'Kind' covering the full route between Linköping and Rimforsa, or vice versa, combined with bus or train transport in either direction.
More options
You can also plan the journey between various sections along the canal. It is possible to join the boat at the different locks. Some locks may be difficult to access for persons with mobility impairments. More information on this can be provided by the shipping company or M/S 'Kind' directly. If you choose to travel on partial sections, transport to and from the vessel must also be arranged independently.
Dogs on board
It is not permitted to bring dogs or pets on board M/S 'Kind'.
Smoking on board
Smoking is not permitted on board.
Linköping harbour / Tullbron
M/S 'Kind's regular berth is in Linköping at Tullbron, in the vicinity of the Travel Centre. The address is Södra Stånggatan 1.
Wheelchair accessibility
Boarding and disembarking with a wheelchair is possible, as is accessibility in the restaurant. It is not possible to bring the wheelchair into the vessel's toilet. Please state in your booking that a wheelchair will be brought on board. Maximum three wheelchairs per cruise.
Force majeure
In the event that M/S 'Kind' is unable to leave the quay, or if a cruise is affected due to circumstances beyond the shipping company's control, no refund will be made for the cruise.
